As Speaker of Digital Fest 2023, Mohammad Solihin Expresses the Importance of Digital Media Ethics

YOGYAKARTA (ILKOM) – Thousands of people were seen gathering at the Museum De Tjolomadoe, Karanganyar, Central Java. That night, sitting in the open fields of grass, mostly filled by young men. They're not only sitting waiting to see their favorite band, Republik, playing on stage, but they're also listening to Digital Literacy stuff.

Mohammad Solihin, speaker of Training of Trainer (TOT) Makin Cakap Digital 2023 who is also a lecturer in Communication Sciences, Faculty of Social Sciences and Economics (FISE) of Respati Yogyakarta University (UNRIYO) has shared his experience on digital literacy in particular the ethics of digital media in the local market. He spoke about it during Makin Cakap Digital (MCD) Cakap Digital Fest 2023 organized by the Ministry of Communications and Informatics (KemenKominfo), last Saturday (11/3/2023).

"Why should we be ethical in every digital activity, because in the digital space there is interaction and communication with many people from different cultures as well as activities in the real world," he said, bringing the Digital Media Ethics material.

According to him, many UMKM communities that use various digital platforms such as websites, social networks, marketplaces, and messaging applications as a means of selling and buying transactions have not yet had digital competence in particular digital ethics.

“This platform is mostly used by UMKM as a place of sale and purchase transactions, well, with this digital ethics it can be used as a guideline in using various digital platforms consciously, responsibly, with integrity, and upholding the values of virtue in presenting themselves, then interacting, participating, transacting and collaborating using digital media,” explains the lecturer familiar with caksol.

There are several digital literacy competences related to netikets that must be mastered by the community and the UMKM community, namely the ability to access information according to netiket on digital platforms, the ability of picking up and analyzing information when communicating on a digital platform, netiket ability to attempt to defend itself from negative actions on a Digital platform, ability to verify messages according to the standards of netiket, the capacity to participate in building social relationships by applying netiketes, the capability to collaborate data and information safely and comfortably on digital Platforms.

Offline activities of the digital literature festival on the theme “Selling Commodity Results to Sabang until Merauke Using Lokapasar” will be held for 2 days, Saturday and Sunday (11 & 12 March 2023) divided into 2 sessions: 1 afternoon session and 2 evening session presenting guest stars of the band Republik and Jamrud. It involves local speaker and Key Opinion Leader (KOL), and the Training of Trainer (ToT) Digital Literacy speaker that brings four pillars: Digital Skill or Digital Speech, Digital Safety or Digital Security, Digital Culture or Digital Culture, and Digital Ethics or Digital Ethic.

"So my own experience when given the opportunity to be a source or speaker that brings material on stage in front of thousands of people from the community and UMKM community in the area of Solo, because it is not easy to deliver a message to the masses that number thousands more than it can influence them to want to learn to use the digital ethics that I bring," said The lecturer of the Communication Science Studies Program of the University of Respati Yogyakarta shared his experience as a source in front of thousands of people.
